Let it Snow-2K4Y Challenge

Just a quick post on this week 2K4Y challenge. I tried this card using acetate....it is fun. I punched out some snow flakes and applied rubon snow flakes on the cover while others inside the card. Overall, I'm happy with the card but I just don't like how it looks on the reverse where the tape/glue shows. Any suggest on how to disguise/hide them???

Time passes very fast and now is already coming end of September and it is only 3 more months to Christmas.
Every year, I do Christmas cards for sales and whatever amount I have collected from the sales is donated to charity. I think it is meaningful because not only the handmade cards you bought are sent to your love ones but at the same time you are doing charity. As for me, it is a small token of appreciation to God for so many things He has blessed me with. I hope to continue as long as I can although the sales from the past 3 years were not very good .... cause I only managed to sell to my friends and in my church..... but it is ok..... I will continue to try. Last year, I only managed to sell about $90..... this year I hope to sell above $100. So, I have to start creating cards for Christmas.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Have a great day!!

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge

Oh! is already Friday here and I have yet to post my cards for 2K4Y challenge. This week Kazan's sketch is fantastic! You should go and see her card kit....it is so beautiful and I think is great for Christmas gift.
All the participating ladies are so creative and the list are getting longer and longer. I am very happy for them. This is also because their weekly sketches are so fabulous.

This is what I have made using her sketch. This is a bit of hybrid cos I printed the label from one of the free download digital kit....resized it, changed the colour on the frame of the label, printed it, cut it out and added some glitter on it.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Last Saturday, our plan for our family day was to wake up very early to have a nice, peaceful walk in the Singapore Botanic Gardens as my DH promised to take some beautiful pictures for my blog (so sweet of him :P) but who knows..............it rained cat and dogs that morning.

We were worried that if it continued to rain, we might have to postpone or even cancel the trip. We waited and waited......thank God it stopped raining around noon.

We had our lunch and quickly headed to the Botanic Gardens since the sun started to shine brightly again. We bought some bread along to feed the turtles and fishes in the ponds.

After the heavy rain the weather was cool and it was good to walk around the park. The flowers were so bright and fresh......the butterflies fluttered from flowers to flowers ......the birds were chirping on the trees with their beautiful songs and bees were busy buzzing around ..... I felt so relaxed.

There were so many fishes in the ponds and some are so big. The children loves to watch the fishes swimming so near to them snatching the bread once it was thrown into the pond.

The children had a great time feeding the fishes and turtles....even the swans joined in to have some bread....soon the bread was gone and we regretted not buying more loaves of bread to feed them.

The children were reluctant to leave the ponds but we promised to buy them more bread (maybe 3 or 4 loaves) to feed the fishes the next time we visited the place again.

We proceed further into the garden and went to the National Orchid Garden. The Orchid garden spreads over 3 hectares of on the highest hill of the Gardens. It was opened by Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew on the 20 October 1995, the most comprehensive collection of the tropical orchids around the world is the crown jewel of the Gardens.

This is Slipper Orchid which is on displayed now at the National Orchid Garden till 19 September 2008.

These exotic plants have seldom been given names to match their beauty. The Paphiopedilum, however, is a notable exception. The word Paphiopedilum was derived from the Greek word ‘Paphian’ which refers to the Roman Goddess Venus, and ‘pedilon’ which means slipper. This was how this unique orchid gets its common name, the Venus’ Slipper, Ladies Slipper or Slipper Orchid. The main characteristic responsible for the name and differentiating it from other orchids is the bizarre pouch-like structure, which is the lip or labellum of this orchid. There are about one hundred species of paphiopedilums spreading from South China, India, Burma, South East Asia, Philippines, and Papua New Guinea to the Solomon Islands. I so amazed by the orchids displayed here.....so many varieties, so many different colours and shapes.

Last but not least, this is Vanda Miss Joaquim, National Flower of Singapore. It is the hybrid between Vanda hookeriana and Vanda teres. It was named after Agnes Joaqium in whose garden the hybrid was orginated. It was selected as National Flower of Singapore in 1981.
The trip was tiring as we had been walking for about 3-4 hours but all enjoyed ourselves very much ;D. We will surely return to this place soon.

Thanks for dropping by :) and have a great week ahead!
God Bless.

1 Sheet Box Challenge

Time passes very fast and 2 weeks was gone. This week challenge at 3-D Design Challenge is to make anything 3-D with 1 sheet of paper 81/2"x11".

I don't want to miss this week challenge and this is my take for it. It is a birthday gift box. Ths size of the box is very suitable for a watch present or small treats for young children. I had fun doing it and really want to thanks those ladies from 3-D:)

Yippee......I have something I need to share with everyone.......There was great joy and celebration on the last day of August 2008 (It was a Sunday). My husband's maternal grandmother had finally taken a step of faith and proclaimed to everybody that she is a christian by going through water baptism. It was held at Living Sanctuary Brethren Church. It is really a miracle because for 80 years she had been a diligent taoist....for her to become a christian is really through much prayers and supplications of our aunties (Auntie Grace, Auntie June, Auntie Siew Hua), uncle Hwa Beng and my mother in law. GOD HEARS PRAYERS, so continue to PRAY. This is to remind me that I have to keep praying for my parents, siblings and friends. In God's perfect timing, they will come to know Jesus.

Pastor Jane sprinkle water on grandma's head as symbol for water baptism due to her age and health condition.

All who are baptised on that day

This is God's Blessings :)
