Christmas Card again ???

Yep! Even though my creative juice is running low... I must persevere(I only have 3 more weeks to go). I actually struggled quite a bit on this week Kazan's sketch 12 at 2S4Y. I stared at the sketch and my mind goes BLANK. What should I do?

So, I browsed through all the cards created by all the talented ladies at 2K4Y.... their cards are so amazing.... (ok, some ideas are coming through)

Secondly, I visited some of my favourite blogs for inspiration... these ladies are so talented and inspiring... (now, I have put together some patterned papers... but how about elements ????)

Thirdly, I flipped through my some of my fave scrapbooking magazines like Scrapbook Etc, Scrapbook Creations and Creating Keepsakes...(alright, these are what I have... trying to put it altogether) and.........
finally, this is my card for this week... (I felt relief and great sense of achievement)

I pray that God will continue to lead and guide me not only in cardmaking but in my everyday life. I want to thank you, Nancy@ Preserving Memories blog for somehow leading me to this blog : Faith Sisters. It is a wonderful blog by Karma, Michelle and Sunny and I'm especially inspired by the weekly Scripture Card Challenge by Patter Cross. Each week she posts a word and we are challenged to make a ATC size card with that week's word on top and a verse from the bible with that word in it or the meaning of that word. It has been running for 45 weeks and this week's word is CROSS. I'm going to try on this and you can too. So, pop over to Faith Sisters and get spiritually inspired.

Bye bye for now and have a enjoyable week ahead!

Double Dutch Challenge #4

I accidentally found this blog - Double Dutch Challenge which has new challenges every 2 weeks. It is formed by these 4 Dutch ladies: Erica, Moon, Jolanda, Sandra and their works are beautiful and their stamping are gorgeous. You should pop over to their blog and check it out. You can find it here : http://www.doubledutchchallenges.blogspot.com/

This week challenge DDC#4 Pick and Choose
We are to pick three techniques from this list and use them in my card:
1. Embossing
2. Doodling
3. Sanding
4. Distressing
5. Stitching
6. Tearing
7. Painting
8. Stamping
9. Punching
10. Embellishment making

I thought it would be good to combine this challenge with this week 2S4Y Laura's sketch together and here is my card :

The technique I used : punching, tearing (tearing red cardstock at the JOY embellishment) and embellishment making.
Happy Thursday!
Thank you so much for being here!

It's 2S4Y sketch challenge again.....

and this week sketch is by Kazan. Oh! I just love all the cards that are done by her and her great design team. So sad :( that this design team is ending this week and the new winter team is coming up soon. I can't wait to meet the new team but will surely miss this present team. The present team has given me so much inspiration and I hope I will still see their work at 2K4Y. I sincerely wish them all the best in their future creative journey.

I have been doing quite a bit in this week. I did a Halloween card and a Christmas card using Kazan's sketch. In Singapore, Halloween isn't celebrated much here therefore this is the very first time a did a card on it. Here is my take :
The purple Halloween pp was done using the Adobe Photoshop software, all the wordings and and pictures were downloaded free from some scrapbooking websites. As for the skull, the template I used is from this amazing magazine I read often.... Scrapbooks etc. (website : Scrapbooksetc.com). Isn't the SKULL cute! Instead of the tradition colours, I chose a more girly palette - pink, gray, purple and black and the swirl is topped with light purple glitters which didn't show up well.
The 2nd card is this Christmas card :
I love these pp - Basic Grey, Anna Griffin, Pink Paislee, it just gives me the feeling of white Christmas which I dream of very often. I added a punched snow flake, glittered it to gave it a sparkle and topped with a gem on top of the Christmas tree. Lastly, I stamped it and added rub-on "Merry Christmas" with a green ribbon to complete my card.
Last but not least, I did another Christmas card for my Christmas sales. I actually did this last Sunday night and when I saw the bonus sketch by Joke I was surprised that it is also a round card.
Here is my card :

I used Flair design pp, Queen's Co felt, Autumn Leaves stamp, EK Success Adnornaments fibers and punched, glittered mini flowers. I had fun with it and like it.

I wish everyone a fantastic Saturday and great weekend.

Thanks for coming to my blog.

Nugget Box Challenge

This week 3D Design challenge is to make boxes using the nugget box templates by Chris Simon. You can find different sizes of nugget boxes
at here :

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190469

I have made mine using the 2x6 size which means that I can put in 2 rows of 6 Hershey nuggets in the box. As Christmas is approaching, I decided to make some Christmas treat boxes for my friends and relatives. I used the Basic Grey Christmas theme pp for the cover, added some Christmas trees cut-outs from SEI pp, used Autumn Leaves "Merry" stamp and this is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

Thank you so much for dropping by.

I hope you day is filled with joy and love.

Patterned Paper : ChatterBox
Flower : Making Memories
Brads : Making Memories
Stamp : Autumn Leave
Punch-out : EK Success
Lace, Doily : Local Craft Store

Wow! I saw this in my mailbox.... it's the sampler pack from Short Cuts for being on the Fab5 in 2K4Y. I'm very happy and can't wait to use them for my Christmas card sales. Thanks 2K4Y and Short Cuts.

I have been busy this week also because I was doing this for 3D Design Challenge ....

One Little Book Template and this is what I have done.

I have made a mini birthday list book to record all the birthdays so that I know whose birthday is coming. It's small and convenient to carry it around and I have stamped on both sides of the month tag which should be enough for recording that month's birthday. You should visit this place as every 1st Wednesday of the month, we are challenged to do something 3D with a template given by them (Carrie Gaskin and Pamela Smerker). It's fun and challenging, so come and join us.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Hope you have a great day ahead!

At the beach

We were at the East Coast beach on Children's Day and it was crowded. I was surprised to see so many people. It is good to see so many families with children enjoying themselves under the sun... building sandcastles.... splashing and playing at the coming waves.
The weather was good that day... not hot and sunny but instead cloudy and windy which is perfect for building sandcastle. We gathered our barang barang (means things in Malay) for building sandcastle.

This is the base of the castle...mmmm it looks strong and firm... good job!

All busy digging, mixing sand with water, malleting it into the mould and shaping the castle. See ! the main tower is up....team work doubles the speed. :D

Wow ! This is our sandcastle.... isn't it majestic LOL.... it is great achievement for us and most importantly we enjoyed it. I'm guilty... I didn't help except taking photos because I'm still with the flu bug... but I know we had enjoyed the time spent together.

Gilliah is a born beach babe... since toddler she always love to go to the beach.... she loves to play with the sand.... splashing and tuck herself with the waves.... she can be there the whole day and never wants to go home. She is so relax and comfortable.... I love to watch her... I'm happy to see her enjoying herself.

The children have fun time splashing, playing at the beach!

Happy Children's Day

Every 1st October is Children's Day here, I have made my children these gift boxes. I have put some marshmallows and candies into each box. I hope they will like it.

Later the day, we plan to go to the beach just to let the children enjoy their Children's Day.
Besides, Children's Day today it is also Hari Raya Puasa - a public holiday in Singapore. Hari Raya Puasa also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri literally means "Celebration Day of Fasting" is the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr. It is observed by Muslims and they celebrate by feasting, visiting family and friends and decorating their houses.
During the Muslim month of Ramadan leading up to Hari Raya, it is mandatory for Muslims to fast from dawn to dusk. All Muslims except the young, old or infirm must fast.

Widely, markets, or 'Ramadan bazaars' are held in many areas around the country, where all sorts of food and kuih — traditional Malay delicacies — are sold for beaking fast or buka puasa.
Delicacies such as ketupat or rice cake and a meat cuisine called rendang are among the most famous cuisines that are served during Hari Raya.
The rest of the day is spent visiting relatives or serving visitors. Hari Raya is a very joyous day for children for this is the day where adults are extra generous. Children will be given token sums of money, also known as duit raya from their parents and elders.
Happy Children's Day !
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri !

Let it Snow-2K4Y Challenge

Just a quick post on this week 2K4Y challenge. I tried this card using acetate....it is fun. I punched out some snow flakes and applied rubon snow flakes on the cover while others inside the card. Overall, I'm happy with the card but I just don't like how it looks on the reverse where the tape/glue shows. Any suggest on how to disguise/hide them???

Time passes very fast and now is already coming end of September and it is only 3 more months to Christmas.
Every year, I do Christmas cards for sales and whatever amount I have collected from the sales is donated to charity. I think it is meaningful because not only the handmade cards you bought are sent to your love ones but at the same time you are doing charity. As for me, it is a small token of appreciation to God for so many things He has blessed me with. I hope to continue as long as I can although the sales from the past 3 years were not very good .... cause I only managed to sell to my friends and in my church..... but it is ok..... I will continue to try. Last year, I only managed to sell about $90..... this year I hope to sell above $100. So, I have to start creating cards for Christmas.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Have a great day!!

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge

Oh! is already Friday here and I have yet to post my cards for 2K4Y challenge. This week Kazan's sketch is fantastic! You should go and see her card kit....it is so beautiful and I think is great for Christmas gift.
All the participating ladies are so creative and the list are getting longer and longer. I am very happy for them. This is also because their weekly sketches are so fabulous.

This is what I have made using her sketch. This is a bit of hybrid cos I printed the label from one of the free download digital kit....resized it, changed the colour on the frame of the label, printed it, cut it out and added some glitter on it.
Cardstock : Brazzill
Patterned paper : Paper Scraps Kit
Label : Digital Kit
Chipboard : WRMK
Rubon : Making Memories, American Crafts
Coloured Staples : Making Memories
Ribbons : from Spotlights
Buttons : Autumn Leaves

I also made another card with a different interpretation of the sketch.
It is made using some leftover scraps that I had quite sometime ago....printed the wordings using MS Words and cut it out using decorative scissors.
Cardstock : Brazzill
Patterned Paper : sorry forgotton
Foam Stamp : Making Memories
Ribbon : from Spotlights
Brads : Making Memories
